Style Spotting at Summer Sundae 2011

August 23rd, 2011

In the name of festival fashion, Rhythm Circus ventured out into the city of Leicester, to the beautiful and very hospitable De Montfort hall, which for three days only played host to Summer Sundae. On a hunt for colour blocking, fringing and that oh so sought after tribal look, those attending delivered and we were not disappointed. Oh, and did we mention the vintage stalls?

;Well they certainly added to the feeling that this festival was a stylish affair, and any style was welcomed. Stacked full with stunning pieces, there were some definite bargains to be had, and some real treasures to be found and they really helped give the whole festival that sought after vintage feel.

So how did Leicester and more specifically Summer Sundae do on style factor?

Well to put it briefly we were positively impressed. But firstly it seems only appropriate when talking about a festival to kick off with the working of wellingtons, there were as to be expected a sea of Hunter’s to be found on female feet, but amongst them were many a vibrantly patterned welly. Most worked them with bare legs and bleached Levi shorts, (adding a colour clashing top was a nice twist) but casual shift dresses, occasionally tossed on with a mac also made for a nice pair with wellies. There was, however plenty of other footwear present, for example loafers made their mark as did short lace up boots, both looked very stylish paired with socks (you’ll see the stylish bunch we picked out working this look)

Trend spotted; fringed tops made an appearance, and looked tribal with high waisted shorts and suede accessories, namely the fringed brown bag. But not satisfied with this, flower headbands, summer’s ultimate festival accessory, were being paraded around looking very hippyesque indeed.

Its definitely safe to say that summer sundae hosted some very stylish festival goers, and we managed to find some gems. From the guys, there were definitely city vibes, and it was all about the whole look, from the hair and the sunglasses down to the shoes, and with so many musicians around we could only help but swoon at theirextremely put together outfits. It seemed clear on Friday night when the amazing Maccabees headlined that front man Orlando Weeks has been a style icon for quite some time, and there was many a male in attendance that was rocking the ‘Orlando look’. Consisting of a single hoop earring, plimsolls, rolled up skinny jeans and a flat peak or beanie, lets just say it wasn’t difficult to pick a few out in the crowd.

We sourced out some very stylish festival goers to give you a taste of the festival fashion that was lingering around Summer Sundae’s Victoria Park. Between them they worked tribal patterns, Wayfarer’s, shift dresses, retro clashing colours, floral head pieces, and we thought they generally looked very stylish. They stood out to us as not only following the trends, but really wearing them well and setting themselves apart.

With Summer Sundae over and done with for another year, they can definitely say it was a tasteful event, the vibes were good, the vintage was even better and we just can’t wait to see what styles next years Summer Sundae brings!
